Getting the best out of your tan
Should I exfoliate before I get my tan?
People get a little carried away with exfoliation and they scrub their body till it is red.
There really is no need for this to happen. A shower with a face cloth over the body
the day before your tan is the best outcome.
Should I shave before I come?
It is advised to shave or wax the day before you come so your pores have time to
close over properly again.
What about lotions, perfumes and under arm deodorants?
dont wear any of these before your tan as it will hinder the solution browning the skin.
TAN KILLERS
Long hot showers or baths
using any product with AHA in it
baby oil
high UV sunscreens (but remember you are not protected from the suns harmful rays)
dove body wash has been know to take tan off as it had AHA exfoliant in it
swimming in chlorinated pools
lying around in the sand and swimming all day (but hey thats why you got the tan right?)
MAKING YOUR TAN LAST AS LONG AS POSSIBLE
some people can only get 3-4 days out of there tan, now there are many reasons for this some
are as above but their are other factors as well including any medication you may be taking
the time of the month (menstrual cycle) lotions you have applied and even alcohol.
Making your tan last we recommend using moisturiser every day over your tan to help keep the
skin nice and plump and keep your tan looking and lasting as long as possible.
REMOVING YOUR TAN
People have claimed that lemon juice, nappy san (not advised), toothpaste, baby oil and even sugar to
remove their tans. If you have had a particularly bad tan we recommend a hot shower for 5 minutes and
then use the TAN-OFF mitt. If you are a regular tanner and find you get a little build up each week
we also recommend the TAN-OFF mitt for removing those caught areas.
WHEN TANS GO WRONG
have you had a bad tan? Here are some reasons your tan may be bad.
The tan was blotchy: could be something you have eaten or some pharmaceutical product, either over the
counter product or prescription. If it is blotchy or spotty like a leopard it is more than likely something you
have eaten that has caused the tan to go funny not the tanning solution.
Hands and feet: On some people the tan absorbs more but we have less melanin down there hence why we dont
get brown soles. Have you seen an african mans feet? They are pink not brown. To much solution on
the feet can make them look a little like you have been in the mud so best to lightly mist the foot area, but your
experienced tanner should know this.
