1. Biotech-Based “Sunless Tan” Creams
   • Clinuvel, a biopharma company, is working on a melanocortin-based lotion that may stimulate natural tanning mechanisms in the skin. This could be a real step-change: instead of just applying DHA (the typical self-tan ingredient), this might more directly mimic biology’s natural pigmentation pathways. 
2. Smart & Personalized Tanning Beds
   • According to tanning-tech reports, there are “smart” tanning beds that use skin sensors to measure your skin type, melanin levels, and sensitivity. Based on that, they adjust UV output, exposure time, and other parameters to optimize the tan and reduce risk. 
   • Hybrid beds combining red light therapy + UV are becoming more common. These offer skin-rejuvenation benefits (like collagen stimulation) along with a tan. 
3. 3D Body Mapping + AI for Spray Tanning
   • New spray-tanning machines use 3D body scanning to map your shape and then apply the tanning solution with precision, reducing streaks or missed spots. 
   • Some of these systems are AI-enhanced so they “learn” from prior sessions to improve accuracy / efficiency.
