Organic oats are so under rated you can use them to treat a variety of skin conditions from psoriasis to eczema. Oatmeal can be moisturising, soothing, and inflammation-relieving for the skin.
Oatmeal helps to keep You Moisturised. Moisturising dry skin can't be skipped — and oats are all-stars at this game. The starches and beta-glucan in oats attract water to the skin and form a protective barrier that helps maintain a healthy moisture level, ultimately diminishing dryness and the irritation it causes. Oats contain polyphenols called avenanthramides that have natural antioxidant and anti-inflammatory benefits. Accordingly, research shows that lotions containing oats significantly improve dry skin. Some of those polyphenols even appear to provide a bit of UV protection to keep skin healthy and youthful. What's not to love? I have been spray tanning for over 16 years and boy do I have some stories and some tips and tricks about spray tanning to tell/share so I decided to put together an online spray tan master class course and boy did it take some work. I have literally added in my years and years of research so all you have to do is take it in and start practicing. One could say I was now the master at spray tanning after 16 year but I am always open to learning more from anyone who has any tidbits for me. This course we are offering will give you the basics of tanning right through to complicated tanning issues. In the course we cover...
Have you ever thought about working for yourself, the freedom that entails and starting a spray tanning business doesnt cost a lot and most people would think that it is seasonal but in actual fact winter is my busiest time of the year. There are school balls, mid winter office doo's , dancers having competitions, body builders, everyone leaving the country for a warm holiday get tans before they go, it's full on all year round so dont ever think it's just summer. Check out the course contents, be brave be bold, New year, New you, New job, say bye bye to your boss and co-workers and become independent earning what you did in a third of the time you would spend in commuting and working. These tanning pills are doing the rounds online at the moment and a few customers alerted me to check it out so I have and here is my take on them. Looking at the ingredients, the active one they say increases your melanin is L-Tyrosine. L-Tyrosine is an amino acid, which is a building block of protein that occurs naturally in the body. L-Tyrosine can also be found in certain foods such as meat, fish, eggs, dairy products, beans, nuts, oats, and wheat. Some people have low levels of L-Tyrosine and it has been used to treat depression or attention deficit disorder (ADD or ADHD). However, research has shown that L-Tyrosine may not be effective in treating these conditions. Other uses not proven with research have included dementia, high blood pressure, narcolepsy, schizophrenia, weight loss, premenstrual syndrome, Parkinson's disease, chronic fatigue syndrome, alcoholism, cocaine addiction, and other conditions and now adding to the list is melanin increase for tanning. NONE of these have been proven or approved by the FDA and on further research I found a few reviews online which I will add below. What I think is the ol placebo affect probably comes into play here as we all know our mind is a powerful thing but they also say that these are best taken while sunning yourself, hahah which would make you brown and increase your melanin anyway. So my take on this is a BIG FAT NO from me, but I must add in here I am no chemist and these may work for some of you, I think you should all do your own research and come to your own conclusion, this was just my humble opinion from my own research. I would like to say also that Dr Viton does have some good products on his site like the set of serums here https://dr-viton.com/products/set-of-serums/ but as for the tanning pills, hmmmm I think that might be another marketing scam. (only in my opinion) L-Tyrosine information was cited on the internet 28/01/2020
https://www.drugs.com/mtm/l-tyrosine.html link to buy some tanning pills https://dr-viton.com/products/dr-viton-bronzan/ Q: no matter what i do, i still get patchy day 3 or 4. Any remedies or suggestions? The patchiness doesn't go away when i apply another layer of lotion, spray or combination Ok let's break down this question from a customer
First we need to understand out skin Then we need to understand the chemical reaction on the skin (which will explain why we get patchy) Then we need to know how to fix it, control or minimise it. Your skin is made up of many layers of skin called the dermis. The top two layers of your skin area already dead and and will naturally flake off your body at a pace of approx 4-10 days for a full cycle and new skin will start under each flaked piece that's come off. Now this can start at day 4 and continue to day 10 until that whole top two layers are gone and new skin emerges, If you are a women and menstruating you may find this process happens A LOT faster and hence why sometimes you tan and then your period arrives and your tan lasts about 2 or 3 days. Also if you are a women tanning and you regularly tan you may find that some tans are better than others even when using the same solutions on your body and that is because of our hormones. Straight after your period if you tan yourself you will find you get an amazing colour and lasting tan then some people find around ovulation the skin can grab and not be as great. We are complex creatures but beautiful ones. DHA or dihydroxyacetone the stuff that makes you go brown has a chemical reaction when mixed with erythrose on the skin to turn the top two layers of skin brown. DHA is a colorless chemical that interacts with the amino acids in dead skin cells to produce a brown color change. Since these dead skin cells are constantly being shed, the color change produced by DHA usually lasts about five to seven days. DHA is not absorbed through the skin into the body and it has no known toxicity. DHA was first discovered Eva Whittington in the late 1920's when DHA was spilled on the skin she found it produced a brown color. DHA has been listed with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) since 1973, and has been used in cosmetic preparations for almost 30 years. Ok so back to the skin coming off our bodies, Now understanding that the skin doesn't peel off like a snake in one go (this would be amazing for tanning) but it comes off in little bits so if you are tanning on top of tanning then some little pieces of skin are falling off and some are staying new and brown hence the patchy. If you are just getting patchy you may like to try doing the things in the next paragraph. Now another reason for patchy is people who shave and shower just before a tan (so many do and some it never affects), again im just stating what I have found to be true after 16 years of tanning people and asking them but when you have just done this (shave wash or wax) you have stripped all the natural oils and PH levels off the skin on your body, I know you feel all clean and stuff but this isn't great for tanning. DHA (the stuff that makes you brown) likes a nice natural PH on the skin to work with (some salons offer a PH spray before they actually tan their customers) and also if you have just exfoliated, shaved or had a wax the chances of your pores being open are high and this creates holes (you can see this under a microscope but not always with the eye) and the tan will go a little deeper and when your skin returns to its natural state (the next morning when you wake up) and the little holes close over you can be left with spotty legs arms etc over the next few days. Another reason for patchy tans can be TOO much tan, just piling too much on for your skin tone. You will only be able to reach a natural colour for your skin tone and after that you can look patchy fake and orange. Annnnnd here is something that most tan technicians will tell you NOT TO DO but im going to tell you to do it because if you have to wash, exfoliated, shave or wax before tanning then apply a light moisturiser to your body before tanning, like an hour before and this will help plump up the skin, return it to its natural PH and your tan will fade more evenly. I can always tell if someone has just shaved, exfoliated or waxed before coming even when the customer says "no i haven't " and I can tell because when I apply the tan it repels a little because the skin has no PH on it or it will look spotty or if you have used a lady shaver with the gel cleaner on it, it leaves a little residue on the skin and the tan will repel from that as well. SO the best way to keep your tan from getting patchy and you want to be tanned all year round then tan yourself every four days and try not to get carried away with too much solution, apply a moisturiser daily to help plump up the skin and when it comes to exfoliating there should be no need to scrub till you are raw. I hope this has helped you to understand tanning a little better and if you have any questions please fire them at me and remember no question is a silly question. :o) Hailee Wheeler Tan Master Owner of BROWNALLYEAR Velvet Blending Glove
ok so its velvet for a reason its soft for a reason and nothing lasts forever Let me share how to use your VBG to get the most out of it. Its starts out as this beautiful soft plush glove and can end up looking like something you found under your house. The Velvet Blending Glove is for use with our Instant Tanning Spray and will not last long using it with our Chocolate Tanning Cream. Spray onto the glove then gently (GENTLY) wipe onto body and then blend, now when we say blend we mean gentle pressure to blend out the tan, not only does this make your tan more even but your glove will last 10 times longer than if you rub hard. The image of the glove below happens when rubbing to hard and the whole thing rips. If you wipe onto your body and blend before spraying again your glove should feel dry so when you have finished tanning your glorious body your glove should feel dry and there is no need to wash it out or rinse it under water. If you feel it is getting really mucky then by all means run it under the tap but remember its velvet and velvet means GENTLE A lot of the time girls will ask me 'what base colour is the tan' like they understand base colours and tanning. A base colour is a colour guide for applying the tan on the body because DHA the stuff that makes you brown is colourless so if we applied this onto your body we wouldn't be able to see where we were going and maybe not make an even tan. BUT colours do have some benefits, some colours stain the skin a little therefore holding a nicer colour for a few days and if too much tan was applied the "colours" would help to make it look more natural. Below is a brilliant write up of how colours work. A little known fact is that DHA (the active ingredient in spray tan) is actually colourless. Its the cosmetic bronzer (guide colour) that you first see when you get a spray tan. Without the bronzers the liquid would be clear and incredibly difficult to apply evenly. Most cosmetic bronzers are made by mixing together 3 primary colours, Red, Yellow and Blue (which together make brown) By manipulating the the blending ratio between these three colours, manufacturers are able to influence the ‘base’ or ‘guide’ colour. Ever wandered why your spray tan turns green after 6 months in the cupboard?. Well, Red is the most unstable colour out of the three. if it deteriorates you are left with only two colours, blue and yellow, which mixed together makes green ! So your tan hadn’t necessarily gone bad, its just that the red colouring agent had failed When it comes to spray tanning solutions there is nothing set in stone. There are general guidelines which should be followed but unfortunately the human skin is such a difficult canvas to work on – so many variables and contributing factors which could affect the end results. Hormones, medication, weather…. the list is endless. However, even though the guide colour can change from one brand to another most tans are typically either Green or Red based and more recently we are seeing the increased popularity of Violet based Tans. So, what is the difference between Green, Red and Violet based spray tans? Green Base – Green bases can work across most skin types although can cause yellow hues on very fair skins. Darker skin tones and those who tan well on holiday should choose a green base. Green base solutions are also best for clients with a red / pink hue to their skin A green base counteracts the red hue resulting in a more natural colour Red Base – Red bases are very much under used and unappreciated in the UK. A red-based tan is ideal for those with fair skin tones who don’t tan well and, if your skin freckles in the sun, a red base will definitely complement you. Violet Base – As the tan develops a Violet based product will counteract any yellow / orange undertones. Thats because violet is on the opposite end in the colour spectrum. When a darker tan is required, a violet based product will usually deliver the best results. why is it important to chose the right base colour? You wouldn’t dream of using a foundation that doesn’t compliment your skin tone. The same methodology needs to be applied when choosing a spray tan that is best suited to your client’s skin tone. Because a client’s natural skin tone will affect the way the spray tan appears. cited on the internet 06.07.2018https://www.spraytan.net/base_colour_explained/
Armpit tanning Armpit rash and how to avoid that white armpit circle after your spraytan.26/11/2017 Summer is here and with summer brings sweaty everything in NZ. We have hight humidity so when its a nice 25 degrees or 77 Fahrenheit it actually feels about 28d or 82F. This moist NZ air causes havoc with some customers when getting a spray tan. Like in photo one, this customer waxed the day before but got a rash from it and when she got her spray tan it reacted like this. ANGRY. While we dont actually spray your armpit when your arms are down in normal posItion that tiny little bit of moisture moves around and we end up with the following armpits.
Always tell your tan technician that this happens or if your tend to be a sweaty person, make sure you tell us so we can avoid that area all together. In our little studio we have flannels for customers to wipe their armpits and also the 'underboob' (another sweaty spot). Other ways to help stop this is to apply a TALC FREE (very important) powder or baby powder to your armpits after tanning and you can also do your whole body, this can make you feel less 'sticky' and smell lovely. Your welcome When 🌴 BROWNALLYEAR 🌴 first took off we had the pin up girl look going on and we created this awesome WARNING sign tanning poster which many have now tried to use, so instead of people ripping it off and making it look ugly why dont they just download it for free :o) Either download one of our posters or purchase for your salon. and here are some of the copies I found on the internet all from different tanning salons

Today my Uncle sent me the article on the UK Dragons Den members #Kelly Hoppen and #Piers Linney who invested in the tanning product Skinny Tan who claim to have cellulite busting properties when really we all would love this to be true but it sadly is not. While they got a telling off about false claims , they also got a bit of coverage on their products but to be honest they really should have chosen the clean green all natural, been here for 7 years NZ made and manufactured 🌴 BROWNALLYEAR 🌴 tanning solutions lotions and potions. Vitiligo is a skin disorder that causes patches of skin to appear site where the normal colour has been lost. Vitiligo can be severe to mild and appear anywhere on the body. Some vitiligo patients notice improvements when having a spray tan or using tanning lotions with DHA in it. DHA, spraytanning and creams can help make the Vitiligo less noticeable and usually last from 4-10 days.
There are a couple of things to help camouflage Vitiligo, depending on how dark the pigmented skin is. You can airbrush the whitest (non-pigmented) parts and work on balancing them out with the natural skin tone or spray the whole body and then double up on the whitest parts to get the even look.
Spray tans dont have to be purely cosmetic they can also help a client feel better about themselves. Brownallyear has certified organic solution just for this purpose.

Ive seen on the www that there is shower tanning and also watermelon seed "natural" tanning offered by other companies. Clever marketing and great packaging but has anyone actually had a go at either of them? The research Ive discovered about the watermelon seed tanning all suggests that it is actually a skin whitening if anything and if it really did do wonders then the whole world would know by now surely and as for 'shower tanning' you could do that with our Express Tan by turning off the shower after you have washed yourself, apply generously our Express Tan all over your body then wait 5 minutes then rinse and pat dry. For more intense tanning do this daily until tan achieved. Might have to purchased said products and find out.

The two tans we stock both require 4-6 hours to develop the fast tan must be washed off after 1-2 hours depending on the skin tone and colour you are after, we can discuss this when you arrive.
The advantage of the fast tan is you can wash and carry on your life while the tan develops, so no feeling sticky or wearing old clothes. After you wash the fast tan off you may find that all the colour has disappeared but it will return within 4-6 hours.
The Organic tan will be brown and beautiful the entire time.......

Tan Lines, it happens, firstly GO NAKED when you get a spray tan, honestly ive seen it all, same thing different body. We can fix tan lines at the salon or you can add tan cream/spray to the white bits. Personally I like tan lines because then you look like you have actually been on holiday in the tropics some where but they are no good for dinner dates and fancy balls.
Salons should be able to make your tan lines better or grab some Mist Tanning Spray and wipe away the white.

How much tan is too much tan you ask, well the girl in this photo (taken from pintrest) was doing the the 100 layer challenge and boy that must feel horrible.
Everybody has a different skin type and tone and some people can take a lot of tan and not look funny but some people will look like a road cone if they put too much tan on. If you are applying tan at home and your skin starts to look like your cracking then your putting too much tan on.
Body builders and dancers will often have lots of tan applied, this looks great under those bright lights but no so great under normal conditions. The trick to getting it right for your skin is either your tan technician should know or trial and error with at home tanning.
Remember a tan is supposed to enhance your looks not change you entirely.

Ever had a sticky tan, one where you either have asked or have had too much tan applied and you feel so sticky. Some tanning solutions have no alcohol (which is a good thing). Alcohol dries out the skin so your tan does not feel sticky and DHA the stuff that makes you go brown dries out your skin too, this is why a tan without the alcohol is better, we want to keep the tan hydrated that is why we always say moisturise moisturise moisturise, BUT if you have a double up on your tan, lets say your a bodybuilder or a dancer or just a crazed tanaholic then you might feel a little sticky and if you do did you know you can put a little bit of talc powder or powder puff onto your body to make you not feel sticky.

Oh how the media like to make DRAMA, listen Im all for learning new stuff and if it is proven scientifically that DHA is extremely bad or pernicious I would shut BROWNALLYEAR down in a day but all the research I do never gives a clear picture in fact the information that was available in the 1970's is far more researched and tested than it is today.

How fake tan works
Fake tans work by reacting with your skin's outer layer, which is mainly made up of dead skin cells. It's called the Maillard reaction and causes what's known as oxidative stress: creating compounds that turn skin cells brown and cause the same type of damage as pollution or sunbathing.
The concern is around the active ingredient in this reaction: Dihydroxyacetone, or DHA.
It's been used as a skin colourant since the 1920s and is derived from sugar cane. It's also what gives fake tan that biscuit smell.
Ok, im just saying, if DHA has been around since the 1920's dont you think we would know by now if there was something seriously wrong with fake tanning, Coco Channel would be a wrinkled prune when she died at the ripe old age of 88.

"We don't know the long term effects," Dr Stefanie Williams, dermatologist and founder of London's Eudelo skin clinic told the Daily Mail. (WHY DONT WE KNOW THE LONG TERM EFFECTS IF WE HAVE BEEN USING DHA SINCE 1920!) I know that eating animals causes cancer but people continue to eat them.
So while you may be doing your best to stay out of the sun to avoid not just cancer but the effects of ageing, your fake tan alternative could also be the cause of lines and wrinkles.
What about lotions, gels, mousses and creams?
Cosmetic scientist Ian Taylor told the Daily Mail "As a cancer-causing agent, there are no issues with DHA applied externally." OK Great maybe the heading should be No issues with DHA
The concern is around other ingredients that can be added in the production process which may cause problems. Great we are totally organic
Cheaper processes where synthetic raw materials such as solvents are used could lead to accidental contamination.
Some products also contain "penetration enhancers", such as ethanol alcohol which is used to help speed up or deepen the tanning process.
But Taylor says they can disrupt the skin's barrier by "increasing moisture loss and making skin more vulnerable to pollutants".
The result? Dryness, irritation - and wrinkles. Well There are a million things that dry out the skin so why the big scary headline gheeesh..
